Orcas Island

We had so much fun on our yearly trip to Orcas! We were really afraid we wouldn't make it this year, but luckily Michael got us on a waiting list for a cabin in Deer Harbor (about 20 minutes from where we normally camp) so we could still join the family for a fun weekend!

Our ferry ride to the island is always so gorgeous, but this year we missed the earlier ferry by 3 cars! We ended up having to wait a total of 5 hrs at the dock! It was a gorgeous view, but we were both pretty miserable in the heat. We did have some entertainment between a guy going on about being a karate master, a teenager falling trying to skip a rock and a goat in the back of another car... at least it kept a smile on our faces while we waited.

Once we pulled up and parked in front of our cabin, the deer decided to drop in and say hi! I snapped a few photos of where we stayed as well. It even had a private hot tub on the deck (which of course I wasn't able to use).

It was really fun seeing the 'other side' of the island! Saturday morning we took a little walk to get coffee and breakfast just across the street and on the marina.

After our morning walk we headed over to the campsite where the family was camping and we all headed to the lake to fish and swim.

Lexie and I were having fun snapping photos of each other :)

The lake was gorgeous! Luckily we go there early enough to get the boys their favorite spot on the dock.

I can't believe how big these girls are getting! We absolutely adore our nieces!!

Time for a few selfies! Kenzie and I took one and of course we needed one with Lexie too!!

Look at those two adorable smiles!

Lexie loves her Uncle Michael and stole his favorite hat! She looks pretty cute in it!

Ron was such a huge help untangling lines and setting up the fishing poles so the girls could catch some fish.

Michael and the first fish of the day!

Time to release it... I think you have a audience...

Natalie decided to sleep most of the day away on Alicia, but I caught a quick photo of them before she caught some Z's.

Lexie had so much fun catching a fish with her "munkle"...

... but she didn't want to be near it or touch it!

Time for lunch! Debbie and I made chicken salad and got to sit and chat for a while. Love having nothing to do or worry about... ahhhhh... relaxing!

Natalie kept us company too before going off to swim!

Michael joined his mom out in the lake to float while Chris, Alicia and the girls all floated by in their canoe! I wish I could have joined in the water fun, but Michael called the doctor prior to our trip and advised that lake water isn't the cleanest so better to keep out! So, I tried to keep cool in the shade with my feet up.

We headed home early on Sunday to be SURE we wouldn't spend another 5 hrs at the ferry dock. We got right on and grabbed a quick snapshot before we rolled into the thick fog for the majority of the ferry ride home.

We had so much fun on our trip.. we were a bit bummed we didn't make it up to Mt. Constitution to see the gorgeous view, but I just was too tired to try and climb up the hill. Next year we will definitely make the trip up there with the babies! We can't wait!
