We've reached such a critical point in our pregnancy- 34 week mark. Our doctor has told us that if we go into labor at this point, they will do nothing to stop it as twins born during this week usually do not suffer from any long term affects of premature birth. Although this is the case, they'd still have to stay in the NICU if we had them this week. Sooo.... we are holding out as long as we can. Every day they are in my belly is 3 days out of the NICU (or so I read). I will need to remind myself of this a few times this week I fear.
Over the last week, it's been really hard getting around without losing my breath. I'm experiencing quite a bit of pain in my lower back and have had a lot of pressure which really kicks into high gear when I stand up after sitting or laying down. The pressure also makes it near impossible to "roll over" at night. It's become quite a process and now I can feel the babies slide from one side to another which is pretty strange. Braxton hicks have been happening all week as well, now with mild cramping, but nothing that is in a pattern.
They both are getting hiccups on a daily basis and have been very active which are all great things! We really enjoy watching arms/legs/heads/backs/butts poke out of my belly and it's a crazy thought knowing that the only thing that separates us from them is a thin layer of skin. Keep cooking babies! 3 more weeks until full-term and 4 more weeks until our scheduled C-Section.
What's Happening Inside My Body?: Fat layers are filling out each baby. Lungs and nervous systems continue to develop this week and baby boy's testicles have descended into his scrotum (I'm sure he'll love that I've mentioned this later in life). :)
Our Babies Are Each The Size of: A cantaloupe- 18-20 inches long and estimated 5 lbs.
