Daddy's Knee

Michael has been in a lot of pain recently with his knee. A few years ago he tore his meniscus and he said it felt similar to that but more painful! He's been having trouble sleeping, hasn't been able to exercise and if he gets up too fast he gets a shooting pain. Of course I was ready to call the doctor right away, but after a month or so of not being able to do his normal activities, he finally let me make an appointment for him. He went in to see the same doctor that performed his surgery prior and got an X-Ray taken.

You can see on the left knee that there is barely any cartilage left and the doctor said that in the future he will need a full knee replacement. For now, we are taking it one step at a time. He'll be getting an MRI and will review with the doctor in the upcoming weeks, but the doctor has said that even if there is a tear he won't operate on it due to the bigger issue. After the MRI, we'll see if he can hold off the surgery for a few years by do injections or manage pain with ice etc.

Not the news either of us wanted!
