Turns out I cannot concentrate knowing that today we get to find out the gender of our babies! I've held off buying anything until we know their genders. One of the ladies at my work even offered to crochet baby blankets for us and I've got a BIG stack of books with different patterns and colors to choose from which I've been holding off looking at.
Being able to pick names is going to be so much fun once we know! We've gotten down to the top 3 names for boys and girls which is pretty exciting (even though we aren't sharing until the twins are here)!
Exciting day!!

We Signed Up for Labor & Delivery Classes
Today we signed up for our labor and delivery classes through Evergreen Hospital. We are really anxious to hear and prepare for giving birth to our twins and all the different scenarios that might happen. It's nice that the hospital offers these classes and a tour so you feel comfortable and are not surprised about what to expect.
The class not only prepares you for birthing multiples, but also about pain medication options, what happens in a cesarean birth, breastfeeding and also information about caring for your babies. The next class they had open is in early June which is a little off based on their recommendation to attend during your 5th month of pregnancy (we'll be about 6 months), but I think it's better to have it fresh in our minds! We are excited to take in all the information we can get!

Date Night
It's been a while since we had an actual date night with everything going on. So, Michael surprised me and took me to putt putt at Rainbow Run in Woodinville! We had so much fun playing the course which is one of the best in the area. There are waterfalls, sand traps, caves and bridges throughout the entire 18 holes. Since this was a rematch of the last time we came (over last summer when I had won), Michael had a goal to beat me.. which he did. I guess this trip didn't settle who's the ultimate putt putt master. We'll have to go again!
After putt putt we went out for dinner and afterwards he had another surprise for me... CHOCOLATE! He drove me out to Brugge Chocolates. This is not just any chocolate shop, but a specialty shop that smelt soooo goood I did not want to leave! We selected several of the flavors and brought home some chocolate covered pretzels to share with everyone. Lexie and Kenzie were having a sleepover at grandma and grandpa's that night so we figured it'd be fun to bring home a special treat. They were a hit! The girls gave 'munkle' a BIG hug and thankfully I had my camera ready.
Here's a picture of the BIG winner! .. this time
And the proof!
We thought Deception Pass Hole 6 was pretty clever with the bridge going over the top!
I couldn't leave until I had a picture in front of Cougar Rock (Hole 9)- Just for Auntie Alicia!
We lucked out with great weather to enjoy the course.
16 Weeks
This last week has gone by so quick (this seems to be a theme lately)! I can't believe we are 16 weeks already. The other night we felt the babies move! At first I thought maybe I had eaten something that wasn't agreeing with me. I felt little bubbles all in my tummy and just as quick as it happened it went away. Michael was bummed he didn't feel it, but the very next night they were at it again at just the right moment. He had his hand on my tummy when they started moving around and he looks at me and asked if I had an upset stomach. I told him no, that was the babies moving. I was shocked that he could feel it from the outside, but so glad he could share that fun moment with me!
Cravings?: Meat! I've really been craving burgers as well as Red Robin french fries.
My Weight Gain: 0lbs in the last week. I think my assumption last week about most of it being water was right and that I lost some of that and then gained baby weight.
What's Happening in My Body?: Our babies legs are now more developed and the head is more erect than it has been. The patterning of their scalps has begun even though hair has not yet started to grow. In the next few weeks our babies will double in weight and add inches to their length.
Our Babies are Each the Size of: Avocados! (yum!) 4 1/2 inches long and 3 1/2 ounces

Crazy Dogs!
These dogs are crazy! We finally captured a video of the howling! It started with Shelby first this time. She quietly started her howl when Michael made the same sound himself. What does Lily do? She runs right up to Shelby's snout and starts sniffing it! Paco starts to "howl" along with Shelby, which sounds more like he is whining, and sure enough little Lily wants to join in! It sounds like a dog kennel in here! Toby slept through the entire thing upstairs. I guess that is the advantage of being deaf around these crazies!
Saying Goodbye to the Condo
Well it's official. The storage unit is completely full of all of our furniture, the condo is empty and is now owned by someone else. We signed all the paperwork last Wednesday and closed on Friday. We didn't think it'd be this hard to say goodbye to the condo, but then again, this is where a lot of our 'firsts' happened. This is where Michael carried me through the threshold after our wedding day, where we had our first date, and where we brought Lily home (among a TON of other great memories). Although we are thrilled to start a new chapter together and buy a house where our children will grow up, we will always have a soft spot for our first official home together.
Now it's time to get the pre-approval process started and begin looking at houses! On our 'must have' list?
Now that the market is starting to slowly pick-up, more and more options start to arise, but they are going quick! So, until we get pre-approved, I'm trying to be good and not fall in love with any houses online. So far with the browsing we've been doing, it seems I may be the pickier one, but I have no doubt that it'll all happen at the right time and we'll find the perfect (or close to) house for our family.
Now it's time to get the pre-approval process started and begin looking at houses! On our 'must have' list?
- 4+ bedrooms
- 2.5+ bath
- Open floorplan
- Home sq footage of around 2,000 or more
- 2 car garage
- Fenced backyard
- Location? TBD We are looking in Lake Stevens, Snohomish, Monroe, Bothell, and Lynnwood

15 Weeks
Over the last week I have had several moments where I literally forget that I'm pregnant. It sounds strange, but since I am not getting nauseous nearly as much and I can't yet feel the babies moving inside me, it's easy to forget, but then I got up a couple flights of stairs and my winded breath reminds me! :)
The last few nights I've been dreaming about our babies. My dreams have been very strange the entire pregnancy, but they are more specific to actually having them lately and their genders. 2 Nights ago I had a dream that Baby A was a boy and Baby B we weren't sure of. Then last night, I had a dream that they were both boys! I'm not sure if this is a sign of what to expect in the future, but it's obviously on my mind! 2 more weeks until we find out!
Cravings?: Water! I've been really thirsty the last couple weeks and go through about 3 of my water bottles (32 oz) during work and then several glasses at home.
My Weight Gain: 16 Lbs (I'm convinced that a lot of this is water). According to my detailed hubby's spreadsheet- right on track!
What's Happening in My Body?: Our babies now measure about 4 inches long and weigh about 2 1/2 ounces. They are busy moving amniotic fluid through their nose and upper respiratory tract which helps their air sacs in their lungs begin to develop. Their legs are growing longer than the arms and they can now move all their joints and limbs (more dance moves for Baby A)! They can now sense light and taste buds are still forming.
Our Babies are Each the Size of: An Apple

Cat Condo Has Arrived!
The cat condo finally arrived for Salem and Leo! Debbie, Michael and I all decided it'd be a great idea to have something for them to climb, play on and scratch (when i say scratch I mean pretend to scratch since they do not have claws). Michael put it all together and got it situated in the room and the cats LOVE it! Leo has claimed the tip top and also the center cylinder where he can hide. Salem really likes the bottom two tiers where he can easily jump up to. I caught Leo on the top, but right as i was trying to get a photo of Salem on it, he decided my phone was more interesting and decided to come up to the camera to say hi!
14 Week Belly - Photo Bomb
Ok, well we didn't have time this week to take the 14 week photo. With moving the last bits of our stuff and a busy week at work (and with school for me), I decided a 'selfie' baby bump photo would have to do. Salem decided he wanted to get in on the action!

We Made It to the 2nd Trimester!!
We are free and clear to share our joy of the twins with friends and family now that we are in the 2nd trimester!! It comes with a sigh of relief knowing we made it past the first 13 weeks with no issues. Now we only have to wait 3 more weeks for our next ultrasound where we should be able to find out their genders!
At our last ultrasound baby A was jumping all over the place and would not hold still. Baby B was pretty cooperative until the tech went down to see the baby's gender and what did Baby B do? Crossed his/her legs! It's not the time to be shy! I really hope at the next ultrasound they hold still for us.
I must say, I am really enjoying this part of pregnancy where I feel energetic enough to get things done AND I get the extra attention from Michael who likes to talk to the babies through my belly (although he says I'm not allowed.. that it's an A, B, and Daddy conversation so I should C my way out of it). I keep telling him that I can't wait for the day one of the babies kicks him in the face. His response? "I can't wait either!" These are definitely moments we will cherish the rest of our lives.
We have so much love for our babies and are amazed at how quickly time flies... 6 months from now we will have two children! Sometimes it barely seems real, but we wouldn't change it for anything!
Cravings?: Besides the 1/2 box of mac and cheese I ate at 6 A.M. on Sunday, no cravings.
My Weight Gain: Not exactly sure as we just moved all of our stuff-I'll have to weigh myself for Michael's spreadsheet. Starting this week I should gain about 1-1.5 lbs per week.
What's Happening in My Body?: Our babies can now squint, frown, grimace, pee and suck their thumbs! Brain impulses now give our little ones a facial workout as they switch from one expression to another. Their bodies are now growing faster than their heads (no more bobble heads!) and their arms will be proportionate to the rest of their bodies.
Our Babies are the Size of: Lemons - measures about 3 1/2 inches and weighs 1 1/2 ounces each!

It's Time to Tell the World About the Twins!!
It's finally time where we can spill the beans about our little ones! Over the last few weeks we've been deciding on how to do it. There are so many unique ways out there, but we finally agreed to one. Thanks to Ron for letting us write all over his sports court with chalk!! Lily and Shelby even helped and got puppy paw prints all over as they chased one another!

Your Daddy...
Babies,
One thing I will tell you about your daddy is how EXTREMELY organized he is! When we go camping every year to Orcas Island, he packs up grandpas truck so perfectly that it's easier to stay out of the way and let him do his thing. In fact, the first date your daddy and I had, I came over to his condo at that time and thought he had spent hours cleaning and preparing for me to come over. Of course this made me feel SO special... then come to find out, it was always like that! He hadn't done any of that for me. Then I moved in and whelp, let's just say that it's not as 'spick-and-span' as it used to be. At times this can be so irritating to mommy especially when I fill the dishwasher to help out and next thing I know, he is in there re-arranging what I had already done! Over time, this has become one of the many things that I love about him. Now that we are moving our things out of the condo and into a storage unit, you better believe this personality trait of his has definitely come in handy!
Over the last weekend, we moved several loads out of grandma and grandpa's garage (which had been taking up 1/2 of their garage while we had the condo staged to sell) and a few loads out of our own garage to the storage unit. I of course was kept an eye on by grandma, grandpa and your daddy to be sure I wasn't moving anything too heavy. Of course I was pouting because I like to help, but hey, at least I was allowed to ride with! At the end of the weekend, I had to take a picture of your daddy's masterpiece. It really was quite impressive how much he fit in such a small space of the unit! I hope you both inherit this great trait from your daddy (unlike your mommy who has organized piles that she plans to do things with.... someday)!

13 Weeks!
We are 13 weeks today! How fast time flies... We are very excited to go and see what our little babies are up to in there on the ultrasound today. Hopefully they cooperate for a new picture today. They'd better get used to having their photo taken between all the photos I'm going to want and also both of their aunties! Get those smiles on babies!!
It's still early, but you better believe I'll be asking if we can see any sort of inclination of the sex! I'm sure I'll get a good laugh from the Dr. but hey, it doesn't hurt to ask!!
Next week marks the beginning of our second trimester which means less nausea and more energy! YAY!!
What Am I Craving?: Cravings have kind of gone away this last week. We are in between the condo and Michael's parents so there has been a lot of take out recently. I am enjoying smoothies though which is definitely healthier than several weeks ago with my cravings for doughnuts! Also now that my nausea has not been as consistent, I've been able to stomach more salad and veggies.
What is Happening Inside My Body?: Fingerprints have formed on your babies tiny fingertips, their veins and organs are clearly visible through their thin skin and their body is starting to catch up with their heads which makes up about a third of their body size now. If you are having a girl(s), she has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries.
Weight Gain: 11lbs
Our Babies Are the Size of: Peaches - Approx 3 inches long!
